Hawks Briefing: A Chance to Rebound Awaits Atlanta Tonight vs the Knicks
The season did not start the way the Hawks wanted to, but they have their home opener tonight against the New York Knicks. Atlanta shot the ball poorly and could not get stops down the stretch against the Hornets.
The Knicks looked like they were going to score a big win on Wednesday night against the Eastern Conference favorite Boston Celtics, but they let the lead slip away, and a big night from Kristaps Porzingis got the win for Boston.
The Hawks and the Knicks have played in some contentious games since the playoff series a few years ago and this will be a battle between two teams that have hopes of landing a top-six seed in the Eastern Conference. This is a good test for both teams to see where they stack up in the East.
Hawks vs Knicks tips off at 7:30 p.m. on Bally Sports Southeast and NBA League Pass.

ESPN NBA writer Zach Lowe releases his "tiers ranking" before the start of every season. He describes it as "my alternative to preseason power rankings. Grouping teams by where they are today and where they might go tomorrow is a useful way to step back and take broader stock of the league."
He wrote about how the Hawks are a possible team to land in the top six and nobody is giving them much of a chance. You can check it out here.
