Hawks vs Pistons: Trae Young Added to Injury Report Ahead of Tuesday's Game With Detroit

Atlanta travels to Detroit on Tuesday for their opening game in the NBA's in-season tournament

An unexpected addition was made to the Atlanta Hawks injury report ahead of their Tuesday matchup with the Detroit Pistons.

Star point guard Trae Young (personal reasons) was a new addition to the injury report today and was listed as questionable. The others that were listed on the injury report were rookie guard Kobe Bufkin and forward Mouhamed Gueye.

Yesterday, the Hawks provided an update on the injury status of both Bufkin and Gueye:

"Guard Kobe Bufkin underwent an X-ray and medical review yesterday on his left thumb, which he fractured on Nov. 2. He will continue to be reviewed weekly and his rehabilitation will progress based on his healing. His return to play timeline is 8-to-10 weeks from the date of injury.

Forward Mouhamed Gueye, who has missed the last two games with a right lower back strain, underwent an MRI yesterday at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex. The MRI revealed a right low back stress fracture. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks and his status will be updated as appropriate."

Atlanta is hoping to bounce back from a surprising loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday. The Hawks were coming off of a long road trip that ended in Mexico City against Orlando and it was always going to be tough to bounce back quickly against a team that is as well-coached as Miami is. Still, the Heat were missing Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Caleb Martin. That is a game that the Hawks might look back upon and wish they had won.

They are going to be matched up with one of the worst teams in the NBA tomorrow and should be favored regardless of whether Young plays. Saturday night against the Heat showed that you can't take any game for granted, however.
