NBA Insider Reveals Sleeper Team to Watch For In a Potential Dejounte Murray Trade
We are 24 hours from the NBA Trade deadline and the top player still circulating in trade rumors continues to be Hawks guard Dejounte Murray.
Murray has been connected with a number of teams, most prominently the Los Angeles Lakers, but accoridng to Bleacher Reports Chris Haynes, there might be a sleeper team to watch in the Murray Sweepstakes.
Haynes suggested that nothing was imminent, but the New Orleans Pelicans were very much in play for the Hawks guard.
The Hawks reported asking price has been two first round picks and a starting player and the Pelicans do have those kinds of assets.
While Murray is one of the most talked about players being dealt at the deadline, it is not definite that they trade him.
From Bleacher Report's Doric Sam:
"Despite a report that trade discussions between the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers have cooled off recently, it doesn't mean star guard Dejounte Murray won't be moved before Thursday's trade deadline.
NBA insider Marc Stein was told by "one source close to the process" who "optimistically insisted" that the Hawks trading Murray "has not been extinguished as a possibility." ESPN's Brian Windhorst said on Wednesday's episode of The Hoop Collective (58-minute mark) that talks between the Lakers and Hawks have been "pretty cold."
Stein noted that he is "less optimistic" about the possibility of Murray being traded by Thursday's deadline. The Hawks have reportedly been seeking two first-round picks in exchange for the 2022 All-Star, and there have been no indications that another team is willing to meet their demands."
While he was not on the injury report yesterday, the Hawks added Murray to the injury report for tonight's matchup with the Celtics. He is questionable with lower back tightness.
