NBA Trades: Terry Rozier Traded to the Heat; Will Dejounte Murray be Next Player Traded?

Terry Rozier was traded to the Miami Heat this morning for Kyle Lowry and a protected 2027 first-round pick

The NBA trade deadline is two weeks from Thursday and another big trade just dropped this morning.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and others are reporting that the Charlotte Hornets are going to be sending Terry Rozier to the Miami Heat for Kyle Lowry and a protected first-round pick in 2027.

This is obviously a huge trade in the Eastern Conference. Miami has needed a scoring guard to go alongside Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, and the rest of that team, as they are still at the bottom of the NBA in a lot of offensive categories. Rozier is having a good season and should be able to try and help them get back to the NBA Finals.

Could this mean anything for Hawks guard Dejounte Murray being traded?

Murray is still the biggest name on the trade market with Rozier, Pascal Siakam, and OG Anunoby already being traded. That does not mean a Murray deal is imminent, but he is still likely to be the most talked-about player leading up to the deadline.

Yesterday, NBA insider Shams Charania had some information regarding a potential Murray deal:

"The Lakers and Hawks did have some pretty extensive conversations about a Dejounte Murray trade a few weeks ago. It was centered around D'Angelo Russell and a 2029 first-round pick and a pick swap I am told. The holdup was the Hawks wanted to find a third team for D'Angelo Russell, he has a player option for next season and they want to find and maybe get an expiring contract back and I would expect the sides to circle back as we get closer to the trade deadline"

Last week according to The Athletic's Jovan Buha, who covers the Lakers, "The Murray buzz is only increasing — and to noisy levels. The Lakers and Hawks have discussed potential frameworks of a deal, including a version late last week that centered on Russell, Hood-Schifino, the 2029 first-round pick and additional draft compensation, according to multiple team and league sources. Talks have since stalled, but are expected to pick back up closer to the deadline."

Things are heating up as we get closer to the NBA trade deadline and Rozier is one big name off the board today. Will Murray be the next?
