Preview

It is a big deal every time the Atlanta Hawks host the Portland Trail Blazers. The Western Conference foe only makes one trip to Atlanta a season, and it has become increasingly rare that Damian Lillard plays in the game. The 7x NBA All-Star last played in Atlanta in May 2021.

Luckily for basketball fans, Lillard is healthy and lighting up the league. Unfortunately for the Hawks, their unreliable perimeter defense has the tough task of guarding Lillard and his backcourt mate Anfernee Simons.

Portland has one of the worst defenses in the league, but they have the fourth-best offensive rating and are a top-eight outside-shooting team. Couple that with Atlanta's high-scoring offense, and tonight's game is sure to be a shootout.

Despite a herculean effort by Trae Young, Atlanta lost their first game of the Quin Snyder era on Tuesday night. A win against Portland puts Atlanta back above .500 and helps their standing in the wide-open Eastern Conference standings.

Injuries

Portland's injury report lists Anfernee Simons (ankle) as doubtful. Additionally, Jusuf Nurkic (calf), Ryan Arcidiacono (back), Justise Winslow (ankle), and Ibo Badji (knee) are out.

Atlanta's injury report lists Trae Young (right groin soreness) as probable.
