Trae Young Fined $25,000 for directing inappropriate language at a game official During Wednesday's Game vs Nets
The NBA announced that it was fining Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young for directing inappropriate language at a game official during Wednesday’s game against the Nets.
The NBA said that the incident occurred at the conclusion of the Hawks' 114-113 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
In the first two meetings between the Hawks and the Nets this season, both games have been thrillers and decided in the final minute. The first game saw the two teams go to overtime and despite Mikal Bridges' 45 points, Atlanta won, mostly due to Trae Young and his 43 points.
A similar script played out that night but with a little more controversy. After Young nailed a deep three to put the Hawks ahead, Bridges came back and hit a clutch shot with 4.5 seconds left. Hawks head coach Quin Snyder called a timeout and set up the final play for his team to try to win.
The ball was inbounded to Young and he started driving towards the basket, it appeared he was pushed and fouled and would go to the free throw line. However, no call was made and the Nets won the game.
Snyder talked about the play after the game and admitted that he thought Young was fouled:
"We got the ball in the player's hands that we wanted it in and you can debate about the last possession, it looked to me like he got pushed."
The call did not come though and the Hawks lost the game. Young and Snyder were both visibly upset, but it did not make a difference.
Atlanta was on the road last night and lost their third straight game. They are back at home Monday night vs the Denver Nuggets.
