Future No. 1 NFL draft pick Caleb Williams felt he needed to clear the air.

He recently posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) to respond to the critics. Williams took some heat over social media when he was spotted apparently with a wallet, phone, lipstick and nails all colored pink. He heard all sorts of criticism.

So the video provided an explanation.

“The wallet’s white, the phone is pink, the case is clear," Williams said.

Later, he explained the nails while holding them up," Nails are clear."

Finally, he responded to those who thought he was wearing pink lipstick

“Lips are pink , your girl love ‘em!” Williams said.

Williams is dealing with the same criticism Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade faced in recent weeks when he was captured with painted nails at a Heat game. Wade's response, however, was somewhat different than Williams.

Instead of clarifying, Wade embraced his choice to wear nail polish and pink clothing. In an interview last month with Highsnobiety, he said he's always treated himself to things such as pedicures and painted his nails.

He credited his father, Dwyane Wade Sr., and uncles in the interview.

"I've been getting my nails painted since 2007,” Wade said. “I always knew that’s what I wanted to do: I wanted to be one of them sharp-dressed men who smelled good, who stayed clean-shaved, and all that."

The nail-painting, attire and cologne didn't prevent Wade from becoming the best player in Heat history or from making the Hall of Fame.
