Brian Windhorst Weighs In On Kyle Lowry For Terry Rozier Trade Rumors

Charlotte Hornets guard Terry Rozier is a rumored target for the Miami Heat as the trade deadline approaches

The Miami Heat aren't disguising their need at the point guard position, with veteran Kyle Lowry on the bench in recent games.

Coach Erik Spoelstra's decision is leading to an abundance of trade rumors, which include Atlanta Hawks' Dejounte Murray and Charlotte Hornets' Terry Rozier. The Charlotte guard would require a less significant package, which is further pushing the agenda.

On a recent episode of NBA Today, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst shared his input on the situation.

“Erik Spoelstra over the weekend moved Kyle Lowry from the starting lineup to the bench, and that was an interesting move and certainly one to keep an eye on. Kyle Lowry has an expiring contract of over $30 million; he would be a prime candidate to be moved if the Heat decide to re-enter the point guard market,” Windhorst began. “The Hornets have had some discussions about Rozier. With where they’re at in their season, he’s got a a couple of years left on his contract, is having a very good year. Possible option for not only the Heat but some other teams... Keep an eye on the Heat as they try to maybe take steps around the deadline to improve their chances."

Rozier is averaging 23.2 points and 6.6 assists on 45.9 percent shooting as the No. 2 option behind star LaMelo Ball. He would provide the Heat with a proven scorer who can involve his teammates on off nights.

With the Feb. 8 trade deadline a few weeks away, the Heat should strike when the time is right.
