Former New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony retired from the NBA after 19 seasons.

Anthony, drafted in 2003 along with Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade, enjoyed a long career as one of the greatest forwards of all time. He was a 10x All-Star, six-time All-NBA selection and member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team. Despite not having much postseason success, Anthony is regarded as one of the greatest scorers of all time. He led the league in scoring in 2013, averaging more than 20 points every season until 2018. Anthony declined in his last years in the league, but is still held in high regard on the all-time list.

Anthony was teammates with Wade and future Heat stars LeBron James and Chris Bosh on the 2008 Olympics team that won the gold medal after infamously falling short in 2004. There was even a point where Anthony was rumored to go to Miami. On a 2021 episode of the Woj Pod, he talked to Adrian Wojnarowski about the conversations the Olympic teammates had about potentially pairing up in the NBA.

“It probably wouldn’t have come up like that,” Anthony said. “It probably would’ve been me and LeBron somewhere and D-Wade and Bosh somewhere. After that, the talk was, ‘Where are we going? Where could we team up at? This is too good, we want this feeling forever.’ We want to experience playing with other great players, so where can we go?”

Just imagine a Heat team with Anthony in addition to the Big Three.
