Charlotte Hornets' Terry Rozier Prefers To Join The Miami Heat
The Miami Heat are in the market for a backcourt acquisition ahead of this season's Feb. 8 trade deadline.
One of the most discussed names is Charlotte Hornets guard Terry Rozier. The 29-year-old is averaging 24 points and 6.8 assists on 45.7 percent shooting. It's important to note that Rozier has operated as the Hornets No. 1 option for the majority of the year, with star LaMelo Ball sidelined.
According to Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer, Rozier is expressing the Heat as his preferred destination.
"The Hornets have indicated that they will be more active this deadline, with influence from new ownership, than how the front office has conducted business in previous transaction windows. Charlotte is said to have all players available outside of LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller and Mark Williams, per league personnel," Fischer wrote. "Terry Rozier’s strong play has made the combo guard a more viable trade candidate than ever at his $24 million average annual salary, with a known preference to join the Miami Heat, league sources told Yahoo Sports."
Rozier would act as a step-up for the Heat's guard rotation, which consists of Kyle Lowry, Josh Richardson, Tyler Herro, and Duncan Robinson. The package for the Hornets guard would likely contain Lowry, Caleb Martin, and a first-round pick.
