Damian Lillard Has Changed His Tune About Chasing A Championship

Damian Lillard is ready to chase a ring after 11 seasons with the Portland Trailblazers

Superstar guard Damian Lillard is ready for a change of scenery after 11 seasons with the Portland Trailblazers.

Last month he requested a trade, naming the Miami Heat as his top destination.

In April, he made an appearance on former NBA player J.J. Redick's podcast The Old Man & The Three. Lillard spoke about what winning a championship would mean to him.

"Winning the ring is like the ultimate level of success" Lillard said. "And I always think about it like how you said, like, you wrestle with that, like, I always think about it like, man, but like, I really do want to win,” Lillard said. “And I don’t think I would go crazy if I didn’t, but like I really want to win a ring. And the thing that I always come back to is, I feel like I’ve checked the box on everything that makes me feel like if I was done today, I’ve had a successful career because I’d be fulfilled because I haven’t taken any shortcuts."

Lillard’s ambition was always to bring a championship to the city of Portland. However, it is clear he has changed his mind since. Now, he no longer feels ‘fulfilled’ with what he accomplished in Portland. The hope is to win a championship in Miami alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.
