Damian Lillard Would Rather Lose “Every Year” Than Play For The Golden State Warriors

Portland Trail Blazers superstar guard Damian Lillard has not expressed willingness to play for any team outside of the Miami Heat

Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard’s only destination remains the Miami Heat, meaning he has no problem expressing disinterest elsewhere.

During the early stages of Lillard’s trade rumors, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported on the Willard and Dibs radio show that Lillard had potential interest in the Golden State Warriors prior to acquiring Chris Paul.

Lillard shut down that report on the It Is What It Is podcast, re-emphasizing his demand to only play for the Heat.

"I respect what they've been doing over the last eight, nine years, or whatever, and I'm from there obviously. That's home," Lillard said. "But I can't be a part of that... It don't even make sense. I never do nothing like that. I lose every year before I go."

Lillard has never been fond of leaving Portland, however, as the years pass, his championship window closes. His view of Golden State is understandable from his perspective because he has spent his entire career with the Blazers.

During the podcast, Lillard gave the example of former Warrior Kevin Durant and what he would’ve done in his shoes.

"I’ve said this plenty of times before. I think KD is obviously one of the greatest players of all time," Lillard stated. "But if I was in his shoes, I wouldn’t have done that personally."

Some could argue Lillard no longer has the right to criticize the loyalty of other players and organizations after requesting a trade of his own.
