Damian Lillard’s Agent Shuts Down Miami Heat Trade Rumors After Instagram Live Video

Damian Lillard listening to the Will Smith song drew immediate attention as he is still linked to the Miami Heat.

Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard was on his Instagram live Friday night listening to “Miami” by Will Smith. 

This only fueled his recent trade rumors to the Miami Heat but his agent, Aaron Goodwin, shut down any implications.

“The music was just a coincidence,” Goodwin said to The Athletic. “Damian’s not disrespectful. He’s not an instigator, so he’s not going to do anything out of character. There would be no reason for him to do that. That’s why he laughed, it’s a funny coincidence that the DJ would put that on.”

Lillard has been tied to the Heat since listing them at the top of his preferred destinations. After Miami came up short of a championship, many immediately suggested acquiring Lillard as the piece to elevate them.

Heat fans are looking for any indication of him leaving. Many of these overreactions could stem from the reality that Lillard probably isn’t leaving, so fans form narratives and hold on to any semblance of hope.

He’s constantly expressed his desire to stay and build within. The organization is unlikely to trade him, and Miami is almost certainly not going to make a big acquisition. For now, these rumors are solely just speculation.

So Heat fans, you probably shouldn’t hold your breath.
