Detroit Pistons' 27-Game Losing Streak Contradicts Miami Heat's 2013 Win Streak

The Detroit Pistons have lost 27 straight games after starting the season 2-1.

It seemed inevitable for the Detroit Pistons, and it officially transpired against the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday night.

The Pistons set the NBA record for most consecutive losses in a single season after dropping their 27th straight game, even amidst the 41-point effort from star guard Cade Cunningham.

This is the complete opposite of the Miami Heat, who had a 27-game win streak in the 2012-13 season. It was the second-longest single-season win streak in league history, trailing only the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers. Whether it was blowout wins or double digit comebacks, the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh were on a mission that season en route to their eventual 2013 championship.

Detroit unfortunately won't share that same success, as they are now on track to be at the bottom of the league for the second straight year. They've been reduced to memes and constant ridicule, especially in comparison to their NFL counterparts. The Lions, who've played just 17 games in 2023, have more wins than the Pistons the entire year.

Their schedule isn't going to get any easier, as they will face the league-best Boston Celtics (23-6) Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the Heat play the Golden State Warriors Thursday, in hopes of extending their three-game win streak.

Who knows? Maybe they'll go on another 27-game win streak this season too.

Okay, we won’t go that far.
