Eastern Conference Recap, Jan. 5: Jayson Tatum Leads Celtics Past Luka Doncic and Mavericks

Tatum has a triple-double against Dallas Mavericks

Jayson Tatum recorded 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists while the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 124-95. It was his second triple-double of his career.

Jaylen Brown scored 19 points while Marcus Smart had 15. Luka Doncic scored 23 for the Mavericks while Spencer Dinwiddie had 18. Christian Wood recorded 12 and 12 rebounds while Terrence Ross led the bench with 14.

OTHER NOTES:

-Ja Morant scored 32 points to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 123-115 win over the Orlando Magic, giving them a fifth straight victory. Jaren Jackson had 31 points and 10 rebounds.

“He set a tone in that first quarter for us, blocked (three) shots,” Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins said. “Overall, you felt his force tonight, his physicality on both sides. It’s definitely one of his most impressive (games), if not the most, so far for J.J.”

-Paolo Banchero scored 30 points for the Magic. It was his fourth 30-point game of his career. Franz Wagner had 22 while Wendell Carter scored 18.
