Erik Spoelstra Praises Thomas Bryant And Orlando Robinson For Their Role In Miami Heat’s Frontcourt
The Miami Heat’s convincing victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers came without All-Star center Bam Adebayo.
In his absence, big men Thomas Bryant and Orlando Robinson stepped up. The tandem combined for 24 points and 16 rebounds on 10 of 17 shooting.
"When I said that earlier in the season at media day, I felt like this was one of the deeper teams we've had. In particular, what I meant was the frontcourt,” coach Erik Spoelstra said after the win. “We have more depth at those frontcourt positions than we've had probably in some of the previous years. We just really commend Thomas and Orlando staying ready."
Veteran forward Kevin Love was also out against the Cavaliers. Despite Bryant and Robinson’s struggles to find minutes, they rose to the occasion.
“Both of them played great minutes for us tonight. They do it in a little bit different ways. Thomas' energy, his motor, extra effort and his touch and feel inside the paint is great for the center position,” Spoelstra said. "Same thing with Orlando, he's earned the trust of everybody. He understands our system very well."
The performance from the duo may result in earning more playing time in the Heat’s upcoming games against the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.
