ESPN's Jay Williams Believes Jimmy Butler Is Scariest Player Remaining Playoffs
Miami Heat’s superstar Jimmy Butler is having the best playoff run of his career.
The Heat, who have a 1-0 series lead, are going into Friday’s Eastern Conference Finals matchup against the Boston Celtics with hopes Butler can deliver once again.
When he’s putting together unbelievable showcases on the court, NBA pundits and former players are amazed by what they’re seeing. One of them being ESPN’s First Take and former player Jay Williams.
While giving his co-host, Kendrick Perkins, the list of the top five scariest players in the playoffs, he topped it off with Butler.
“The scariest player, Perk, and you know who it is,” Williams said. “Those dogs out in Miami, man. It’s Butler, man. I mean, you talk about being in the trenches. Come on, Perk! Being in the mud!”
Butler is the main catalyst for the Heat, who started the season poorly. But he refused to let it define them as he led them to the playoffs, proving critics wrong in the process. He’s averaging a playoff career-high 31 points, including a 56-point performance in Game 4 against the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round. He’s been so outstanding he’s earned the nicknames “Himmy Butler” and “Playoff Jimmy”.
“I’m going to be behind Butler in the alley way, too,” Williams continued. “Because we ain’t losing no damn fight if he coming to fight with me! Yeah, go ahead Jimmy. Take the first couple blows, I’ll be right behind you, ducking and weaving. Let’s go. We about to win the fight. That’s what Jimmy Butler is.”
