ESPN's Kendrick Perkins Says Miami Heat Are Best Fit For Ja Morant
It wouldn't be the offseason without speculation and trade talks.
The latest suggestion came from ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins on Thursday's edition of "First Take." Perkins said he felt Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant should join the Miami Heat.
"I think that's the culture and that's the organization that he needs to go to," Perkins said. "... I know that they have the lifestyle down there in Miami. They have the nightlife. You can go to the clubs. They have the beaches. They have everything and more. But I also know when it comes down to the godfather in Pat Riley, it's nothing that goes on in that city of Miami without him knowing anything about."
Morant was under fire most of the season after he was suspended eight games for an off-the-court incident. He is likely awaiting another suspension after video surfaced of him waving a gun in a car.
Perkins said the Heat organization could help Morant mature, especially with Riley and Udonis Haselm around.
"I think Miami is the best fit for him," Perkins said. "It's an established culture. He'll be well-protected and he can learn."
