ESPN’s Mike Greenberg Boldy Picks The Boston Celtics To Win The Series Against The Miami Heat
Although the Boston Celtics took a Game 4 victory against the Miami Heat on Tuesday, most NBA pundits are still picking the Heat to win the series.
However, there are some who believe the Celtics could defy the odds set against them and make it to a second straight NBA Finals appearance. One of them being ESPN’s "Get Up" host Mike Greenberg.
On Wednesday, he made a bold statement saying he picked the Celtics to win the series and still has them as favorites, despite a 3-1 deficit.
“Everyone, all of my compadres out there, Stephen A. and Michael Wilbon, Jalen,” Greenberg said. “They were all making fun of me because I was saying ‘The Celtics could come back’”.
They took Game 4 but overall, the Celtics played below their standards this series. Out of the four teams in the conference finals, the Celtics were last in points per game and 3-point percentage, the complete opposite from the regular season.
“The Celtics are the better team,” Greenberg continued. “They haven’t played like it but they are the better team. And so if they catch fire, they could do this. The idea of they can’t win three more games in a row in this series, to me, doesn’t make any sense at all”
The Celtics’ duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been the blame for these problems. They have been the most inconsistent duo this season and it carried into the playoffs. Tatum is averaging a team-high 27 points while Brown only 16. It also doesn’t help when Tatum disappears in the fourth quarter, only averaging one field goal.
With Game 5 on Thursday, the Celtics hope to become the first team in history to come back from a 3-0 playoff deficit.
