Gabe Vincent recently opened up about why he chose to leave the Miami Heat for the Los Angeles Lakers during this offseason.

On a recent episode of JJ Redick’s podcast, The Old Man and the Three, Vincent said it was a difficult decision after enyoying his time in Miami .

"So, it wasn't easy, and I don't think it's any secret," Vincent said. "I was pretty open about willing to go back and wanting to go back and my love for the organization, and I think it was pretty reciprocated," Vincent said. "But when it came down to it, business got in the way, and there were certain points that the Heat could only get to, and other teams were able to get to more, and it just kind of made more sense at the end of the day."

After two years in the G League, Vincent spent the last four seasons with the Heat. Last year he broke out, averaging 9.4 points while shooting 40.2 percent from the field. He owes much of his success to Miami and had a clear desire to return.

However, when referring to business, Vincent is likely alluding to the contract the Heat could have offered. Other teams had the cap space to give him $11 million per year, which was more than the salary-cap strapped Heat.

"And business played a role, but also just situations, etc," Vincent said. "So, L.A. was the play, and we're looking forward to the future."

Vincent likely sees himself having an elevated role with the Lakers, allowing him to further prove his worth.
