Miami Heat icon Dwyane Wade has received much praise for his support of the gay and lesbian community.

He's also drawn some criticism.

This week, it was former rapper Ma$e's chance to throw shade at Wade. This time, it was for Wade wearing nail polish during his last appearance at Kaseya Center. Ma$e, who was popular in hip-hop during the 1990s and early 2000s, took exception during a recent episode of his "It Is What It Is" Podcast.

"This like [Michael] Jordan in lingerie," said Ma$e, who once rapped alongside Puff Daddy. "It's just crushing. It's what you don't want to see. It just ruined everything."

It was unclear if the rapper was joking but Wade has faced backlash before from the hip-hop community. Rappers Young Thug and Boosie have both been critical of Wade for supporting his transgender daughter, Zaya.

In 2020, Young Thug tweeted, “All I wanna say to dwade son is ‘GOD DONT MAKE MISTAKES’ but hey live your true self" before later apologizing. A year later, Boosie said, “At 12, they don’t even know what they next meal is gonna be. They don’t have shit figured out yet…,” he said. “He hasn’t made his final decisions yet.”

It still hasn't stopped Wade from becoming a strong advocate of the LGBTQ lifestyle.
