Giannis Antetokounmpo Says The Boston Celtics And Miami Heat Are Only Teams That Can Defend Him
On Saturday, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo declared himself as one of the most unstoppable players in the NBA.
During the media session, reporters asked if any one can guard him one-on-one and he made it clear double-teams are the only way to stop him.
"1-on-1? Come on, man. You got to build a wall, man,” he said. “Got to build a wall to stop me. They created the Giannis wall, Boston does it now, Chicago tried to do it, Miami did it... There's no 1-on-1 in my world. There's me playing against two guys, three guys, four guys."
In the 2020 Eastern Conference semifinals, the Miami Heat defeated the Bucks 4-1, ultimately reaching the Finals where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 4-2.
In the series, Khris Middleton averaged 25 points for the Bucks while Antetokounmpo was kept to 21. He wasn’t able to get his usual shots in the paint and was limited on fastbreak opportunities, mostly because of Bam Adebayo’s defense. Since he wasn’t a reliable 3-point shooter, he attempted just 14 3-pointers in the entire series. Unfortunately, he missed Game 5 after rolling his ankle in Game 4.
Last year, the Bucks defeated the Chicago Bulls in the first round 4-1 but lost to the Boston Celtics in the Semifinals 4-3. In this series, Antetokounmpo took advantage of the Bulls’ lack of size and averaged 28 points and 13 rebounds.
The Bucks are 1-1 against the Boston Celtics this year with their sole victory coming after overtime. They play each other again on March 30 in Milwaukee.
