Have Miami Heat Fans Lost Hope In Jimmy Butler?
Jimmy Butler was all smiles after a close loss to the Boston Celtics.
Unfortunately, Miami Heat fans were not.
They largely trusted Butler throughout the postseason because of his leadership and superstar performances. After the Game 4 loss, fans appreciated Butler’s confidence but the reaction has changed after three straight losses.
Butler’s smiles are now seen as arrogant and phony, especially after going 5 of 21 from the field Saturday night.
Butler guaranteed victory in Boston Monday night, saying, “everything’s gonna be alright.” Many are no longer convinced of this message because he uttered these same words after Games 4 and 5.
Of course, we would talk about his fourth-quarter comeback if not for a winning shot by Derrick White. Instead Butler’s struggles through three quarters were highlighted.
Frankly, even a win wouldn’t save Butler from criticism. He was 2 of 15 for nine points until the fourth quarter. The Heat likely wouldn’t be in that situation if Butler performed better from the jump.
Now, there’s no more room for error. Miami heads to Boston for Game 7 with their edge lost while fighting for a berth in the NBA Finals.
