It’s been a good playoff run for the Miami Heat. To go from an eighth seed to the NBA Finals is not something to frown upon.

No, the series isn't over yet, but these were the immediate reactions from the fanbase after another blowout home loss to the Denver Nuggets. The previous hopes of winning a championship are being reciprocated with the acceptance of defeat.

The Heat cut the lead multiple times Friday night but never pulled ahead. The Cinderella story may be over, as evidenced by the dip in production from the undrafted players that shined throughout the postseason. Gabe Vincent and Max Strus combined for two points, six personal fouls, and two turnovers. When the starting backcourt performs this way, it’s nearly impossible to come up victorious.

The ominous sign was fans turning on Jimmy Butler. A day we never thought we’d see but here we are.

And of course…Bam Adebayo. After Finals MVP hype, he’s back to being the subject of criticism after going 8 of 18 with eight turnovers.

Nikola Jokic was out for nearly five minutes in the fourth quarter but the Heat couldn’t capitalize. Aaron Gordon and Bruce Brown combined for 48 points, torching Miami all game and pouring it on in the fourth quarter.

Per usual, some tried to say the Nuggets benefitted from the referees. But while officiating can be blamed for impeding momentum, the real detriment was careless ball handling, as the Heat finished with 15 turnovers.

They return to Denver for Game 5 Monday night with history against them. Only one team (Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016) in Finals history has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit.
