How Miami Heat’s Twitter Reacted to the Loss Against the Boston Celtics Saturday Night
A few seconds more and all the would have been about Jimmy Butler’s comeback elevating the Miami Heat to the NBA Finals.
Now, we are talking about them losing the series and potentially becoming the first team to blow a 3-0 lead. The Heat led with three seconds left but a Derrick White buzzer beater forced another game. Heat fans expressed their anger and disbelief on social media.
Early frustration set in for Butler and Bam Adebayo, going for a combined 4 of 17 from the field for just 14 points at the half.
“Jimmy and Bam are playing like frauds,” one user said. “They’re getting plenty of help from their role players yet Bam is playing conservative (AGAIN) and Jimmy looks scared to death to shoot the ball. We played good the last 2 minutes so let’s carry that momentum.”
There was optimism with Miami only being down four. However, Adebayo and Butler never got back into rhythm, going a combined 9 of 37 from the field. Butler had 15 points in the fourth quarter but it was mainly off free throws.
Some questionable calls altered Miami’s momentum late, leading to the usual complaints about the refereeing.
But even for the bad calls and poor shooting, the Heat were still three seconds from going to the Finals. Ironically, this felt like Game 7 when the Heat had a late surge despite being down double digits. And just like last year, one play swung the series toward Boston and erased a massive comeback.
Miami still has a chance to win the series Monday night. But fans’ confidence is so far gone, they might as well end their season today.
