How Miami Heat’s Twitter Reacted to the Loss Against the Denver Nuggets Monday Night
After close victories against the Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic, Miami Heat fans had some concerns.
Those concerns were justified in the Heat's Monday loss to the Denver Nuggets without Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon. Miami once again failed to take advantage of a team dealing with injuries to key players. The Heat, too, were playing shorthanded, with Tyler Herro a late scratch because of a knee injury. With Victor Oladipo, Kyle Lowry and Duncan Robinson already out, they only had 10 available players.
“Wow you played a good team and lost?” one fan said. “Who would've thought! But who cares about trading for some help cause our undrafted players have culture & passion!”
Nikola Jokic nearly had another triple-double with 27 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Michael Porter Jr. and Bruce Brown combined for 33 points, and the Nuggets had seven players in double-figures.
The Heat are still sixth in the Eastern Conference but only a half game ahead of the New York Knicks. With the way they’re playing, Miami barely looks like a playoff team to many fans.
Heat fans are now starting to use this season’s inconsistency as criticism of Pat Riley’s tenure as the Heat president.
“Every year Pat Riley doesn't sell high on these undrafted players and ends up either over paying them or letting them walk for free,” one user said. “They could have a lot of draft capital. Now the roster still lacks talent, and is stuck with bad contracts, and barely any assets.”
The Heat play the Brooklyn Nets (33-24) Wednesday.
