Is Alex Caruso To The Miami Heat A Real Possibility?
The Miami Heat fan base is never satisfied with the roster due to the few major changes to it in the past four years.
The Heat made one splash with guard Terry Rozier in January, but major success is yet to come. Since acquiring the former Charlotte Hornet, the team has a 2-5 record.
Fox Sports' Ben Cotton recently listed a mock trade for each NBA team ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline. The Heat's deal sent guard Josh Richardson, forward Nikola Jovic, and a first-round pick to the Chicago Bulls for guard Alex Caruso.
"Bringing in Caruso would not only be a big upgrade on Josh Richardson, but also provide more of a defensive balance in the backcourt staggered with Rozier and Tyler Herro – and create a healthy dilemma of which two players get to start," Cotton wrote. "Miami is fully committed to winning now, and adding Caruso to the playoff mix would only further make Erik Spoelstra’s side even more feared come playoff time. Seriously, no one would want to play them."
Caruso brings a much-needed piece of backcourt defense to the Heat's roster. The Bulls guard could balance the skillsets of Herro, Rozier, and Duncan Robinson. He is averaging 10 points, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 blocks on 48.6 percent shooting in 43 appearances.
