Is Miami Heat's Tyler Herro Outperforming Boston Celtics Jaylen Brown This Season?

Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is having a career year, but does it trump that of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown?
In this story:

Miami Heat star Tyler Herro is proving his doubters wrong this season after an offseason filled with trade rumors.

But does this success trump the level of Boston Celtics star guard Jaylen Brown?

Their stats are comparable, as Herro is averaging 24.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals on 47.6 percent shooting. Meanwhile, Brown is averaging 22.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.1 steals on 47.8 percent shooting. However, the greatest difference between them comes in their situations.

The Miami guard has dealt with injuries this year, appearing in 11 of their 29 games. Brown has played in 26 contests. Herro's statistics are viewed at a smaller sample size, meaning consistency remains a concern. But if the former Sixth Man of the Year can sustain his level of play, then this factor is neutralized.

Brown plays in a lineup full of stars, including Jayson Tatum, Kristaps Porzingis, and Jrue Holiday. The Heat struggle to sustain health, which results in a multitude of lineups. Despite these differences, the guards exhibit nearly identical usage rates. Herro's is at 29.9, while Brown's is 28.8. Their minutes are also similar, with Herro averaging 34.1 minutes to Brown's 33.8.

The NBA regular season is not yet at the midway point, but by the end, this debate could have a definitive answer.
