Jaime Jaquez Jr. Responds To C.J. Stroud’s Claim Of Scoring 40 Points Against Him

Miami Heat rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. recently responded to Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud's claim of scoring 40 points against him in high school

Miami Heat rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. made headlines earlier this week after a claim made by Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Stroud said he scored 40 points and hit the winning basket when he and Jaquez faced off in a high school basketball game. The comments were made on Micah Parsons' podcast.

"Do you know who the star player on the Miami Heat is right now other than Jimmy Butler? Jaime Jaquez," Stroud said. "Played at UCLA. That game I scored 40 points was on him. That's Jaime Jaquez right there, the center. Stop playin' with me, bro."

While it remains unknown of Stroud's total, fans get to watch both stars put on a show at NBA All-Star Weekend. Ahead of Friday's Rising Stars game, Jaquez responded to Stroud's remark.

"Oh wow, well, I'll make of it this way. I don't think he had 40, but I will give him he definitely hit the game winner. That is true; he hit a crazy game winner half court. The crowd did rush the court, but I'm wishing him all the best," Jaquez said. "I hope he does well."

The Heat rookie is participating in the Rising Stars Challenge on Pau Gasol's team and the Slam Dunk contest. He is going against reigning champion Mac McClung, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, and New York Knicks' Jacob Toppin. Meanwhile, the Texans star is ready to perform in the Celebrity Game on Friday evening.
