Jamal Murray Shouts Out Miami Heat’s Victor Oladipo For Help During His Recovery Period
Denver Nuggets star point guard Jamal Murray was battling injury after tearing his ACL in 2021. Two years later, he is the co-star on a championship team.
After defeating the Miami Heat Monday night, an emotional Murray recalled those who helped him during his recovery. Among those players was Heat guard Victor Oladipo, who has struggled with a lengthy history of injury.
“Zach LaVine helped me out a lot with my confidence. Victor Oladipo was hurt back and forth, but he had such a positive mindset talking to me. Klay [Thompson] was brutally honest with me on how it was gonna be. I could see the hurt in his eyes when he talked to me. It was less about the words he was saying. I was looking at him and he wasn’t even making eye contact. He was just like, ‘This is just how it’s gonna be.’”
Murray averaged 26.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 7.1 assists this postseason. He was crucial in the two man game with Finals MVP Nikola Jokic, who finally played alongside Murray after two consecutive postseasons.
Oladipo unfortunately suffered another injury in Game 3 against the Milwaukee Bucks. It was a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, ending his season once again. The immediate reactions from players illustrated the severity of the injury.
At least Heat fans can be happy seeing Murray succeed, and take it as a possible sign of optimism for Oladipo.
