Miami Heat Culture embodies selflessness and team-oriented basketball.

It is everything Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden has struggled to display throughout his career. He recently took to social media in the midst of trade rumors to the Los Angeles Clippers.

“Been comfortable for so long, it's time to get uncomfortable,” Harden posted on his Instagram story on Thursday.

Of course, this message could mean a plethora of things or nothing at all. However, given Harden’s trade rumors and history of opting out, it’s not otherworldly to assume he is forcing his way out of Philadelphia. It would be the third team (Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets) in the past three years he’s ousted himself from.

The Heat are clearly aiming for Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard but some have pointed to Harden if the trade falls through. But former All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas said the Heat and Harden trade wouldn’t pan out for asset reasons.

“Who are they gonna trade?” Arenas said on a Thursday episode of Gil’s Arena. “What assets? ‘Oh yeah let me give you James Harden, and Imma give you back Tyler Herro.’ They already got [Tyrese] Maxey. Like they’re gonna get Herro and be like, ‘Oh yeah I can win championships now?’ What the f*** are you getting back? What does Miami have?”

Like Arenas pointed out, a Harden trade would hardly benefit either side. In this theoretical scenario, the Sixers would get another player like Maxey while Miami gets a playoff underperformer. The Heat need someone to boost them to championship contention, which is why they’re pushing to acquire Lillard.
