Jayson Tatum's Game 7 Performance On Par With LeBron James Among Elimination Games In Boston
Boston Celtics fans witnessed one of the greatest NBA playoff performances at TD Garden in an elimination game in 2012.
On Sunday, they may have seen one even greater.
Celtics forward Jayson Tatum had 51 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in a Game 7 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers. The win pushed the Celtics to the Eastern Conference finals to face the Miami Heat. Game 1 is Wednesday in Boston.
The dominant game from Tatum was similar to when LeBron James did the same for the Miami Heat against the Celtics in the 2012 conference finals. The Heat trailed 3-2 when James had 45 points and 15 rebounds to extend the series. They faced a second straight season without a title despite James teaming with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh when they claimed they'd win multiple titles.
When asked about Tatum's game, Sixers coach Doc Rivers compared it to James. He was coaching the Celtics at the time.
"I've seen one," Rivers said. "It was in this building. It was LeBron."
