Josh Richardson Brings A Lot Of Value To The Miami Heat
When free agency started Friday, the Miami Heat fans showed concern for how quiet their team was.
But the Heat made some moves a few hours later, the most notable the acquisition of shooting guard Josh Richardson.
Though he is coming off a subpar season with the San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans, signing Richardson to a two-year deal is a huge positive for the Heat.
Not only is this the second time he’s putting on a Heat uniform, he has improved his production on both offense and defense. Offensively, he is a solid complementary scorer, something the Heat need with the departures of Gabe Vincent and Max Strus.
Richardson can score in a variety of ways, including off the dribble, pulling up, and off screens. When he’s off the ball, he finds ways to get to his open spots for catch-and-shoot points.
The Heat can also use Richardson's defense. Not only does he average one steal for his career, it’s the things he does that don't show up on the stat sheets. He’s good at staying in front of his opponents and contesting shots, one of the main concerns the Heat had this season.
