Kevin Love Explains The Decision To Sign With The Miami Heat

Love says "Heat Culture" played a huge role in the decision

Kevin Love is already fitting in with the Miami Heat.

On Tuesday, the Heat’s Twitter page posted a video of Love stating he’s here for the winning culture.

“I know a lot of these guys from being in the league for 15 years,” Love said. “Having played against them, they’re guys I admire, what they’re about, as well as this team and this culture here. It’s a special organization.”

Love signed with the Heat on Feb. 20 after a contract buyout with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Heat fans were excited to have Love join them because of his skill set, dedication and commitment.

“Not many teams, if any, are capable of what they’re doing year in and year out and I’ve seen it, man," Love said. "Since I started in this league and got drafted in 2008 until now. They just have a tradition of excellence. They want to win and win now and that’s something I want to be a part of.

He played with the Cavaliers for nine years, helping them make the playoffs four times. He even played a huge role in the 2016 championship, averaging 14 points in the playoffs.

Last season, Love accepted a role off the bench and still averaged double-figure points. But his main job was to be a locker room voice and influence the young Cavaliers roster. With the Heat’s young team, Love can do the same and contribute with his 3-point shooting.

"Just compete, go out there and just getting to work and, you know, just help further this thing," Love said. "They already established themselves for so long this year included. So again, just taking that to the next step, see why I can impact the game, impact the guys and just make the game as easy as I can for them.”
