Mac McClung Joins Former Miami Heat Player Derrick Jones Jr. As Undrafted Players To Win Dunk Contest
Philadelphia 76ers guard Mac McClung became the second undrafted player to win the slam dunk contest during NBA All-Star weekend.
He joined former Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr., who won it in 2020 in Chicago. McClung spent most of the season playing in the G League.
"I'm super grateful for this opportunity," McClung said. "I think a lot of guys in the G League probably deserve this light that I just got. I'm very appreciative and I hope I represented well for them, and I really appreciate the NBA giving us this opportunity."
Heat guard Tyler Herro wasn't as fortunate in the 3-point competition. He did not advance past the first round. Herro was dealing with a knee injury that caused him to miss the final two games before the break, so it could have impacted his performance.
