Miami Heat Are Showing "Bona Fide Interest" In Cleveland Cavaliers Guard Donovan Mitchell
Trade rumors are one of the leading subjects when discussing the Miami Heat's organization.
The latest example is Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell. The four-time All-Star guard is averaging 27.2 points and 5.7 assists on 45.5 percent shooting. The topic is picking up steam because of a recent report from writer Marc Stein.
“The Miami Heat, league sources say, continue to have bona fide interest in Mitchell despite Cleveland’s don’t-even-call-us approach," Stein wrote. "And could well choose to test that resolve with Mitchell proposals after Miami’s trade pursuits of Bradley Beal and Damian Lillard over the summer ended with neither player landing on South Beach.”
Mitchell may not have a desire to join Miami's core if he views them as equal to the Cavs lineup. Not to mention, Cleveland has not shared an interest in moving on from him yet. Darius Garland and Evan Mobley are young stars, while Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo hold the upper hand in experience.
These organizations will likely not come to an agreement without the inclusion of guard Tyler Herro. This is a discussion surrounding the Heat for multiple years: Is Herro untouchable, or is he replaceable?
The front office's answer will determine if this trade has any substance to it if Mitchell is deemed available.
