Miami Heat Draft Pick Jaime Jaquez Wants To Emulate Jimmy Butler's Toughness
In four years, Jimmy Butler has cemented himself as arguably among the best players in Miami Heat history.
The fact Heat draft pick Jaime Jaquez wants to mimic Butler in every way is encouraging. Jaquez, who played at UCLA, has always admired Butler.
“I think it’s his ultimate toughness,” Jaquez said of Butler. “He’s a competitor. And that’s what I try to be every single day. He elevates his team. He just knows how to play. He always tries to make the right play. I try to emulate that.”
Most draft experts referred to Jaquez as a perfect fit for the Heat. Last year he was the Pac-10 Player of the Year and a second-team All-American.
“I think I’d be lying if I didn’t say I didn’t have a sense that I was going to go to Miami,” Jaquez said. “I think I did really well in the workout. I think I shot the ball well, played great defense. I showed them what I was all about.”
