The Miami Heat have had plenty success with G League and two-way contract players.

They are hoping guard Alondes Williams can become the next. Williams provided a glimpse of his abilities by scoring 11 points in the Rising Stars Challenge game Friday during NBA All-Star weekend. He had a highlight dunk the second half that drew raves from the crowd and television announcers.

"It was all about the overall development," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "I think it's easy to point to some big-scoring games. That was really down the list for us. Sure, it's great that he was able to have those kind of nights but it was really about previously playing the role, defending and impacting winning. The rest of the game is improving."

Williams could follow the same path as the likes of Caleb Martin, Duncan Robinson and Haywood Highsmith. He averaged 20.3 points, 6.5 assists and 5.2 rebounds with Sioux Falls Skyforce.

He was called up Feb. 9 when the Heat waived RJ Hampton.

"He's extremely coachable," Spoelstra said. "He had a very positive approach in Sioux Falls and we're happy to reward somebody like that."

The Heat return to the action Friday on the road against the New Orleans Pelicans
