Miami Heat Legend Dwyane Wade Celebrates 42nd Birthday

Former Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade turned 42 on Wednesday

Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade had a lot to celebrate in the past year.

Last summer he was selected to the Naismith Basketball Memorial Hall of Fame. He also recently found out the Heat plan to build a statue of him outside the Kaseya Center.

And now he gets to celebrate himself again. On Wednesday, he turned 42. The Heat made sure to wish him a happy birthday on their official social media page.

The post read: "We've referred to @DwyaneWade in many different ways over the years... most recently, Hall of Famer. Today we're going with Birthday Boy HBD D. Wade!"

Wade, who spent his entire career with the Heat except for an 18-month stint with the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers, is the leading scorer in franchise history. He had his jersey retired in 2020, joining a list that only includes Tim Hardaway, Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Bosh, Udonis Haslem and Alonzo Mourning.

Last year Wade became the first Heat-drafted player enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

“When we retired his jersey in February 2020, I said Dwyane was the face of this franchise forever and I meant it,” Heat president Pat Riley said. “Dwyane’s legacy is a towering one not only for the Miami Heat but for Miami-Wade County. I can’t think of a better way to honor him than by memorializing that legacy.”
