Miami Heat Legend Dwyane Wade Congratulates LeBron James

Wade has some kind words for LeBron after becoming NBA's leading scorer

There were several around the sports world to congratulate LeBron James after he became the NBA's new scoring king.

His close friend and former Miami Heat teammate Dwyane Wade were among. Wade gave his message to James, who surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Tuesday night as the league's career scoring leader.

“Congratulations, my brother,” Wade said. “I remember having those conversations about what it would be like if this day ever came. At the time it was surreal, because you’re a pass first guy. To get to this place, I understand what it takes. It takes consistency, and you’ve been consistent since the day the world’s heard your name. In the midst of playing the way that you love to play the game, the court has opened up for you, and you became THE greatest scorer of all time. I salute you, King. Congratulations on becoming the all-time No. 1 scorer in this beautiful league.”

Wade and James were teammates with the Heat from 2010-14, winning two championships in four straight NBA Finals appearances. Wade, who retired in 2019, is expected to be inducted in the Naismith Basketball Memorial Hall of Fame this summer.
