Miami Heat Legend Dwyane Wade Shares Thoughts On Damian Lillard Winning A Championship
There’s arguably no greater player in Miami Heat history than shooting guard Dwyane Wade. Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Damian Lillard is expected to join the team in the coming weeks, leading Wade to give credit to Lillard’s career.
In an appearance on NFL legend Shannon Sharpe’s podcast Club Shay Shay, Wade discussed Lillard’s career and the possibility of him winning a championship.
“I’m not saying [Dame] won’t get one... But if he walks away with no rings, does that take away what we’ve watched Dame do? We know if he got the right team, he’s not selfish,” Wade said. “But he hasn’t had the team that has allowed him at the right time to be better than these teams.”
Lillard has spent his entire career in Portland, with a few accolades to show for it. Despite his All-Star-level play, Lillard and the Blazers have only reached the Western Conference Finals once.
His newfound desire to chase a championship in Miami could lead to him solidifying a Hall of Fame career. The Big Three of Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Lillard will stand among the favorites to win the Finals.
There is no one better in the Heat’s organization to show praise for Lillard than perhaps the player who left the greatest impact in the team’s history.
