Miami Heat Likely Need A Third Team To Complete Trade For Damian Lillard

The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly the third team that could join Portland Trail Blazers and Miami Heat in Damian Lillard trade

The Miami Heat have began pursuing Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard but will likely need a third team to complete a trade.

Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report said the Heat "wasted little time" reaching out to the Trail Blazers so they can complete a deal soon possible. During an interview on NBA TV, Haynes said the Brooklyn Nets could also enter the scenario.

"It's looking like if the deal is going to be completed between the Heat and Blazers at some point, it's looking like it will require the facilitation of a third team," Haynes said. "What I can say is look out for the Brooklyn Nets to be potentially part of the whole process ... I was told the package would be centered around Tyler Herro, some picks and possibly Duncan Robinson."

Three years ago, Robinson set the franchise record for 3-pointers made in a season. Last year Herro was the Heat's third-leading scorer before being the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year in 2022. Still, they are expendable when it comes to landing a player the caliber of Lillard.
