Miami Heat Now Three Games From No. 6 Seed After Wasting Jimmy Butler's Big Night Against Orlando Magic

Jimmy Butler scored 38 points but received little help in Saturday's loss to the Orlando Magic

The Miami Heat have a bad habit of leaving too much of the load on forward Jimmy Butler.

On Saturday, another sad chapter was added. The Heat fell 126-114 in overtime to the Orlando Magic despite Butler's 38 points. Butler even provided his team with another chance by hitting a tying 3-pointer as the time expired to force another an extra session.

The Heat responded by being outscored 18-6.

Butler's top two teammates, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, combined to shoot 13 of 30 from the field. The outcome would have been different had either played to their capabilities.

Instead, the Heat's hopes of avoiding the play-tournament took another hit. They had a chance to gain ground on the New York Knicks, who lost to the Los Angeles Clippers earlier in the day.

The Heat now stand three games back of the Knicks for the No. 6 seed.
