Miami Heat vs. Brooklyn Nets Play Of The Night: Nikola Jovic Dish Leads To Jaime Jaquez Jr. Acrobatic Finish

The Miami Heat’s play of the night occurred on a fastbreak play with forwards Nikola Jovic and Jaime Jaquez Jr.

The Miami Heat did not have an enjoyable trip to New York after falling short to the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets on back-to-back nights.

One of the Heat’s few bright spots in the 112-97 loss to the Nets was rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. He showcased impressive finishing in the second quarter.

Off a missed shot by Brooklyn, Nikola Jovic grabbed the rebound. On the fastbreak, he pushed the pace before slinging a pass to Jaquez inside the arc. Jaquez drove past the Nets defender, finishing with an acrobatic reverse layup.

Jaquez wrapped up the game with 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists on 53.3 percent shooting. In the absence of multiple stars, Jaquez played 31 minutes.

On the other hand, Jovic’s playing time did not mirror the injuries on the Heat’s roster. He played 16 minutes, recording one point, six rebounds, and four assists. Jovic added two turnovers and five personal fouls to his statline.

Jaquez and Jovic are two of Miami's least NBA-experienced players. Despite this, their careers appear to be headed in opposite directions. At only 20 years old, Jovic has time to turn things around.

The Heat are hoping to face the Milwaukee Bucks with Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Duncan Robinson back in the lineup on Tuesday.
