Miami Heat's Bam Adebayo Falls Short Of Record Triple-Double After NBA Rescinds Rebound
Center Bam Adebayo's appearance in the Miami Heat record books was short-lived.
On Wednesday, the NBA removed one of his rebounds from the Heat's victory against the Los Angeles. It left Adebayo one shy of becoming the first player in franchise history with a 20-rebound triple-double. He also had 22 points in 10 assists.
Regardless, it didn't keep coach Erik Spoelstra from celebrating the versatility of Adebayo.
"Yeah, he really willed us in those moments of truth; he was the voice in the huddles," Spoelstra said. He was holding everybody to a higher standard, demanding more particularly on the defensive end of the floor, and that's leadership. Not just a voice, but doing it with all the big muscle stuff 20 on the glass... That's just tremendous; that's why he's the heartbeat."
Bam Adebayo's Game Continues To Evolve
“I mean, he is always playing like that, it just doesn't always look like 22, 20, and 10,” Jimmy Butler said of Adebayo. “Whatever it takes to win and I think we need everyone else's points, getting those rebounds and every assist. It's not going to look like that every night, but when it does, and we get a win I think everybody's happy.”
The Heat return to action tonight at the Memphis Grizzlies.
