Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler A Finalist For NBA's Clutch Player Of The Year
Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler is known for his fourth-quarter play.
On Friday, the rest of the league took notice.
The NBA announced Butler is a finalist for the Clutch Player of the Year Award. The others on the list are DeMar DeRozan (Chicago Bulls) and De'Aaron Fox (Sacramento Kings).
This season, Butler averaged 22.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 5.3 assists. He was also one of the league's top performers in the fourth quarter. The award honors the best player in the final five minutes of close games.
Butler, who was named to the All-Star game, led the Heat the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
"He puts his fingerprints all over the game," Bulls coach Billy Donovan said of Butler.
The Heat are currently playing the Bulls in the play-in tournament, with the winner advancing to the first round of the playoffs.
