Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler Clears The Air On Supposed Beef With Nikola Jokic

Jimmy Butler said hallway incident last season in Denver had nothing to do with Nikola Jokic

Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler has moved past the incident but he also wanted to clear the air.

In 2021, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and former Heat player Markieff Morris got into an altercation during the game. Morris missed most of the season due to a back injury sustained after Jokic blindsided him with a shove to the ground.

After the game, video surfaced of Butler having words with someone outside the locker room. It was assumed to be Jokic but Butler said Wednesday it was directed toward someone else.

Butler refused to say who.

"I think there's a lot of, like, stuff about the whole situation that people don't understand, and I'll let that stay back there," Butler said. "But I don't think it has too much to do with anything, this thing in the past. It's high-level competition. But I will say I wasn't talking to Jokic. That wasn't my beef. Make sure you write that. The individual who I was talking to definitely knew who I was talking to."

The Jokic-Butler confrontation is just one of many storylines entering Thursday's Game 1 in Denver.
