Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler Comically Recalls Ejection Against New Orleans Pelicans
Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler thrived in their win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, leading him to crack a few jokes during postgame intervies.
The highlight of which came when Butler was asked if there was a memory of his ejection against the New Orleans Pelicans in February. The 34-year-old forward wasted no time explaining what he remembered prior to the Heat's matchup against the Pelicans on Friday.
"There is a freaking memory. I got fined a lot of money, that's my memory. I don't give a [expletive] about tensions flaring and all that," Butler said. "I got kids, diapers, baby food... You know what I'm talking about, Jax [Jason Jackson], like, that's crazy? I'm trying to get my bread back."
Butler was among four players ejected in the Feb. 24 game, along with Thomas Bryant (Heat), Naji Marshall (Pelicans), and Jose Alvarado (Pelicans). Since then, Butler is performing at an elite level in the majority of games.
Wednesday's three-point victory over the Cavaliers was no exception, as he tallied 30 points, five assists, and four steals on 11 of 19 shooting. His performance was needed because All-Star big man Bam Adebayo was sidelined with back issues.
As the Heat battle for seeding in the Eastern Conference, the team can not afford for a similar altercation to occur later this week.
