The NBA season is back for the 2023-24 campaign, which means the league has certain obligations with their sponsors.

One of the NBA’s most notable sponsored partnerships is with the tech company Google, which just released its latest commercial. Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is featured with popular Comedian Druski, two-time WNBA Champion Kelsey Plum, and Amazon Prime’s Taylor Rooks to promote the new Google Pixel 8 smartphone. The commercial is titled "Project Built Different: Making the League.”

The commercial starts with Druski watching Butler playing basketball from the bleachers. While sitting in the stands, Druski becomes inspired to pursue a dream of becoming an NBA prospect. With newfound determination, he approached Butler about the Heat star training the comedian and internet personality. Initially hesitant, Butler eventually concedes and agrees to mentor him.

The commercial proceeds to a sequence where Druski is shown engaging in a series of workouts alongside Butler. It's evident that Druski lacks the innate talent of a natural basketball player, but his unyielding determination to secure a spot in the league shines through. He consistently attends each workout session, putting forth his utmost effort while enduring Butler's relentless push, which constantly challenges his physical capabilities.

Speaking of Butler and the Miami Heat, they defeated the Detroit Pistons Wednesday at home 103-102. Butler finished the game with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists in 34 minutes.

The Heat followed with a loss to the Boston Celtics Saturday in a rematch of the last two Eastern Conference finals.
