Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler Seen Practicing At Howard University's Sports Facility
The Howard University men's basketball team headed to Newark for the Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic. The Bison are amongst the team competing with the top historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
Luckily, Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler kept their stadium company with some practice shots alongside his trainer Chris Brickley, as the Heat play the Washington Wizards Friday night.
Howard has gotten a lot of attention from basketball stars in recent years, including Steph Curry, Luka Doncic, and Andre Iguodala. The escalated support for HBCUs has many big names turning to The Mecca to contribute their sports teams. Last year, the Howard men's basketball team won their first conference title since 1992. Butler is the latest NBA star to be highlighted at the school's stadium. This exposure will hopefully assist the sport programs' growth and development.
Meanwhile, Butler and the Heat are trying to continue winning after defeating the Sacramento Kings Wednesday night. Their victory ended a seven-game losing streak, including four since acquiring star guard Terry Rozier. Butler had 31 points, seven rebounds and six assists. He quoted the team-oriented basketball as the formula for winning.
"That's the way we want to play," Butler said in the postgame interview. "That's the way that we are going to win games. That's the way we've won games ever since I've been here. We want to continue to do that."
They need that momentum against the Wizards (9-38) Friday night.
